Margaret Coventry and Opal Boyce are happy! Uniforms 4 Kids have new premises. This charity began in Cooroy and we still remain the headquarters of an expanding organisation.

We started in a home, we moved to the CWA, we moved onto a shop in Emerald St and then into a shed behind that shop. Now we have a permanent, fantastic place under the Uniting Church in Maple Street Cooroy.

How wonderful are the people in Cooroy? We thank the CWA, Lyn and Trevor Renshaw and now the Uniting Church for their continuing support. Greg from Abbott Electrical donated his time and materials to set us up in our new premises at the Uniting Church for Uniforms 4 Kids.

Uniforms 4 kids repurpose Queensland Police, Aust Federal Police, Border Force and Australia Zoo discarded uniforms into beautiful and practical clothing for children in need. Over 9000 items of clothing have been returned to the various organisations for them to distribute as they see fit.

Clothing has recently be given to abused children in Singapore, disabled children in Malaysia, needy children in Indigenous communities in far north of Qld, Sunshine Coast Crisis centres and Bush Kids.

Our ladies enjoy a very social event each a Friday Morning from 9 am. Some sew, some cut out or sew on buttons or even iron and some just come and join us for a cuppa and a chat.

We have ladies that sew at home and then come along to show us their creations. We just love  it!

Many of our ladies have learned how to sew or renewed their skills.

We are growing, We really need more sewers or assistants. Can you help?

In August, we plan to start a Thursday morning group. If you would like to join us, on either or both days, we will welcome you with open arms.

These 2 outfits (below) have been made using QPS shirt uniforms with the added features using donations from “Boom Shankar” Noosaville. Another wonderful supporter.
